My hot tips to finish the year strong and rest hard

The last week or two has been all about reflection. Firstly, I spent a day with one of my mentors going deep on acknowledging the progress made this year and getting focused on my vision and plan for 2025. I’ve been doing the same with my Luminous Leader groups and to put them in a different headspace I wanted to shift gears with them.

The session started with a beautiful walk, talk and meditation over-looking Sydney Harbour. We then discussed their wins and lessons for the year, got focused on their prioritises and energising habits to help them finish the year strong and started to craft their vision for 2025. We rounded out the session with a beautiful healthy lunch and a glass of bubbles to celebrate a massive year. Most of these leaders are in the thick of work deadlines, pitches and showing up as a leader at key team, organisational and partner events (not to mention their social commitments), so it was important to me to create a nourishing and supportive environment with a slower pace to really connect.

Despite where these guys were at, I was just so impressed that they showed up for themselves and each other despite busy schedules. There were many insights and moments of gratitude shared. Things like;

“It’s OK to give ourselves permission to take time to care of ourselves”.

“The power of a supportive community and safe space to reconnect without ourselves and our own needs”

“It was wonderful to be surrounded by such an inspiring group of leaders. Thank you so much for creating a genuinely impactful experience”

Now over to you

Have you thought about creating a moment for yourself and / or your team to reflect? You may be all over this already or, perhaps it’s a moment to think about when and how you could do this…

We also got laser focused on their rest and recharge plan for the holidays. So often we push to the finish line and don’t plan for the break we need. I was encouraging these guys to think about where they are at energetically and what they actually needed for themselves for their break.

We ended the session with them making a clear plan and commitment to actions – there was also a little time for implementation as they started to book extra days off, diarise date nights and yoga classes, book in massages…

How are you doing?

OK let me pause right here and ask, ‘how are you doing?

Is this sparking some thoughts of what you need to do to support your break or finish the year strong? Or are you focusing on the holidays and wishing this time away?!

Here’s my invitation to you wherever you are below are some of the ways you can take care of YOU so you can fully rest and enjoy the holidays…

3 Things You Must Do Before Clocking Out For The Holidays:

  1. Reflect on the year that was. One of the important things to do before you go on holiday is to reflect on the year that was and map out a plan for the new year. That way you get it out of your mind, and you won’t be worrying about it on your holidays. Even better you can prepare your team to hit the ground running as soon as they are back in the office if everyone knows the plan.
  2. Think about connection before the year ends. There are so many opportunities for connection as we enter the holiday season, but I invite you to look deeper and decide exactly what type of connection would benefit you most right now. Is it connecting with your team, your loved ones, one-on-one time with your partner or yourself, time with a coach or mentor? Once you have identified this ask yourself ‘what opportunities do you have for these connections in the next few weeks?’ I’m writing this to you just before heading off to a lunch I have organised of ‘legends who work for themselves’ some of my favourite fellow small business owners who are always there through the highs and lows – so nourishing for my soul.
  3. Complete Things Now.  Are there a few stressful projects on your plate that you are procrastinating on that could slip into next year? As tempting as it can be to wind down into the end of the year, I want to encourage you to ‘eat the frog’ as Brian Tracy wrote about, give it one final push and get these types of projects off your plate. Why? So, you can stop stressing about them throughout your time off. Clear the cache in your mind away now so that you can rest and enjoy your holidays.
